Be aware of Brexit scam emails
July is ‘Scams Awareness‘ month and Dean Dunham has been talking to Clive Bull on LBC radio to raise awareness about scams to encourage the public to share their experiences so scams can be reduced.
“The only way we can eradicate scams is for people to highlight that they’ve been scammed or they know someone that has been scammed. It’s the only way that other people can learn about those scams,” Dean Dunham says.
“I’ve been looking at scams for quite some time now and it’s the same old scams that come around and around again and that’s because people do not tell others about them so fraudsters are able to try the same trick over and over again.
“We’re going to stop people doing this just by highlighting scams so if anyone has been scammed or they know anyone that has been scammed, please let us know so we can tell the world about it, Dean adds.”
Be aware of Brexit scam emails
The latest scams which are doing the rounds are related to Brexit. Dean advises the public to be very vigilant when opening emails that appear to be from the Government referring to Brexit.
“The Government is not sending any emails about Brexit in this way and if you receive an email asking you to click a link or asks you for personal details, just delete it. Ignore it, it’s almost certainly a scam.”
